SHPE Officers

Meet our amazing leaders!

Mar Ambriz

President

¡Hola Familia! I am excited to be your Sac SHPE President for 2021-22. My name is Mar and my pronouns are they/them/theirs. I am currently a third year Electrical Engineering Major with an emphasis in Electronics and working towards a math minor. I also hold the Social Chair position for the Engineering and Computer Science Joint Council and part of the operations team for our local hackathon organization, SacHacks. In my free time I enjoy being outdoors, whether it’s in nature or a city, going to festivals, and binge watching shows. A fun fact about me is that I am trilingual knowing Spanish, English, and French. Let’s have a great year together!

Wilder Mazariegos
Vice President

Hola SHPE Familia! I am a Junior Civil Engineering undergraduate, and I have been a part of Sacramento State's SHPE chapter since Fall 2019. For the 2020-2021 academic year, I served as the Director of Membership. For the 2021-2022 school year, I have been fortunate enough to be your Vice President. I'm a first-generation Hispanic college student with a passion for engineering. My passion for the construction industry started when I was 10 years old when I helped my father build a chicken coop. That project sparked a seed. When I was growing up, my father was building his career as a general contractor specializing in remodeling homes and bathrooms. What really sparked my passion for civil engineering was when we did a house expansion in our home in 2016. It was my first time seeing the process of how a construction project comes to life. My father worked with a civil engineer during the process, and I had the chance to speak with the civil engineer. The conversation I had with him inspired me to pursue a career in the engineering industry.

I am looking forward to work with this chapter for the 2021-2022 school year!

Webmaster

The Webmaster Committee is an essential part of the Sac SHPE chapter as so many individuals utilize the web services to obtain current information about events, resources for information about scholarships and current officer and chapter information, and other opportunities. The website includes a webpage to sign up and join the Sac SHPE chapter which needs to be maintained and encourage students to become members. We provide easy and quick access to joining our chapter as well as for information that our members and the Sac State community can access. We will be working on the SacSHPE.org website and help committee members become better web developers and leaders. A student of any major is encouraged to join.

Junior Chapter Representative

The Jr Chapter Committee focuses on having members work with the local Jr Chapter. Our Jr Chapter is full of students that are interested in the engineering field. Some of these students might not have a great understanding on what the different fields are and how they differ from each other. The Jr Chapter Events are meant to help these students find that out. Members of the committee can also give these students personal input on college, what their major is like, how they chose their major, and other similar questions the students have. It would be ideal for the Jr Chapter committee to have a diverse list of majors so that the events can be planned accordingly to focus on a specific type of engineering.
